Superior Court of Los Angeles County Issues General Order Allowing Electronic Recording in Specified Circumstances To Protect Constitutional Rights of Litigants

Read the General Order Here

The court is currently experiencing a significant shortage of certified court reporters, which is impacting our ability to provide reporting services for court proceedings. This shortage is part of a nationwide issue affecting courts across the country.

Due to the limited availability of court reporters, delays in scheduling hearings, trials, and other proceedings may occur. We are making every effort to ensure that essential services are maintained and are actively working to mitigate the effects of this shortage.

In response to the shortage and following the most recent order from the Los Angeles Superior Court, we may employ the use of electronic recording equipment in our courtroom when a court reporter is unavailable. This ensures an accurate record of court proceedings is maintained even in the absence of a live reporter. Please note that this approach is aligned with the best practices to preserve the integrity of court records.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this challenging situation. If you have any questions or concerns regarding how this may affect your case, please contact the clerk’s office.
